The Inside Story of PVC Panel Bulging
Have you also encountered the problem of bulging PVC flooring? Don’t worry, we’ll reveal the reasons behind it for you!
1️⃣ The base surface isn’t completely dry: Before installation, the floor must be dry, with a moisture content of less than 3%!
2️⃣ The self-leveling compound isn’t dry enough: Self-leveling compounds need to be fully dried (moisture content ≤3%) to prevent flooring from bulging.
3️⃣ Excessive dust on the self-leveling compound: This may be due to issues with the base surface, the quality of the self-leveling compound, or poor installation methods, preventing the flooring from adhering properly.
4️⃣ Incorrect choice of accessories: Different types of flooring require different accessories, and choosing the wrong ones can lead to flooring problems.
5️⃣ Low temperature: During installation, the ambient temperature should be maintained between 20°C and 35°C. Installation should be done with caution if the temperature is below 15°C, and it’s prohibited below 5°C.
6️⃣ High air humidity: The relative humidity should be between 20% and 75%. Installation isn’t recommended if the humidity exceeds 75%.
7️⃣ Inappropriate curing time: Different glues, flooring types, surfaces, and environments require different curing times. This depends on the experience and professional skills of the installer.
8️⃣ Inadequate ventilation: After installation, it’s important to ventilate the area promptly, carefully, and patiently to ensure the flooring remains flat.
9️⃣ Failure to compact: After applying the adhesive, the flooring needs to be compacted using rollers within 2 hours. In special cases, more effective measures may be necessary.
🔟 Welding too early: Generally, welding should wait until 24 hours after flooring installation. Welding too early can cause the flooring to bulge. 1️⃣1️⃣ Cracks in the base: Cracks in the base surface can cause the self-leveling compound to bulge, which in turn leads to flooring bulging.
1️⃣2️⃣ During use: PVC flooring shouldn’t be exposed to prolonged sunlight, rain, or water damage!
💡 Now you know the reasons for PVC flooring bulging. Avoid these issues to keep your flooring in excellent condition!
